1. Who we are
DC Petropolis is a dog grooming studio at 1408 9th St NW, Washington, DC 20001. This policy explains what information we collect through this website and our new-client application, why, and what we do with it.
2. Browsing this website
You can read this website without giving us any information. It has no contact forms, no analytics or advertising trackers, and it sets no cookies. Like any website, our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs, such as IP addresses and browser types, to run the site and keep it secure.
3. What the new-client application collects
When you apply to become a client, we ask for:
- Your contact details (name, address, phone and email), and those of a second person in your household if you choose to add one, with their relationship to you
- Your dog’s details: name, breed, sex, date of birth, weight, color and coat, how long you’ve had them, and a photo
- Health information: your vet’s office and phone, spay or neuter status, allergies, disabilities, medical conditions, flea and tick prevention, and vaccinations, along with the vaccination records you upload
- Your dog’s behavior and grooming history, including any bad or aggressive reactions during past grooming and why you’re looking for a new groomer, and anything else you tell us
- How you heard about us, whether we may text you about your appointments, whether we may use photos of your dog in our marketing, the agreements you tick, and your digital signature
4. Why we collect it
- To decide whether we’re a good fit for your dog
- To contact you about your application and to schedule your introductory call
- To prepare for your dog’s visits and care for them safely, including contacting you, your emergency contact or your vet if something goes wrong
- To text you about your appointments, if you said yes
- To keep our client records
5. Where it’s kept, and who helps us
Your application is stored in our scheduling system, which runs on Vercel with a Neon database, and uploaded files are stored with Vercel. We use Google Workspace for email and for the calendar invitation for your introductory call, and we may keep copies of client records in our Google Drive. We send text messages through Twilio.
To keep spam out of the form, we use Cloudflare Turnstile, which may process technical information about your device. For the same reason we store a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address, never the address itself, to limit repeated submissions.
6. Who can see it
Only the DC Petropolis team members who need it. The providers above handle it only to run these services for us. We don’t sell your information or share it for anyone else’s marketing.
7. Photos
The photo you add to your application helps us recognize your dog on their first visit. The application also asks whether we may use photos of your dog in our marketing, such as our website and social media. That includes photos we take at the studio. If you say no, we won’t use them in anything new; photos already posted may stay up. If you became a client before we asked, or want to change your answer, just let us know.
8. Text messages
If you say yes on your application, we text you about your appointments and reminders, for example when your dog is ready for pickup or vaccine records are due. We don’t send marketing texts. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to stop them, or HELP for help. To change your answer or reach us, email info@dcpetropolis.com or call (202) 489-4299.
We do not share, sell, or provide your mobile phone number or messaging consent data to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Your texting opt-in and consent will not be shared with any third parties. Twilio, our texting provider, receives your number and our messages only to deliver them for us.
9. Your choices
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. Email info@dcpetropolis.com or call (202) 489-4299. We’ll delete what we can, and tell you if we need to keep anything, for example a record of an outstanding charge.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we’ll update this page and the date below.
